Coach Chris Hill reports,
Final score: Cashmere 24- Manson 5
We started out very well today with 2 runs and 4 base runners in the first inning and Stellen Giffin came out and battled in the bottom of the first on the mound. Unfortunately, things fell apart in the second inning when we gave up 21 runs in the bottom of the frame. We had a little trouble finding the strike zone until Cameron Peters came into pitch in the bottom of the third.
Nathan Coggins had one of his best games behind the plate in his 4 years of catching. Bailey Stevens and Kent Ustanik both had great catches in the outfield. Both Taylor Quigley and Bailey Stevens got their first career base hits and Stevens showed his great speed on both the base paths and in centerfield. I was happy with the kids performance today as we have only been able to hit live once this year (due to field conditions) and we have had a real hard time finding dry places to field fly balls and ground balls. Devon Griffith, Stevens and Quigley were all playing new positions and it has been tough for everyone to get the repetitions they need. We will be back on the diamond at home against Cashmere again on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 a.m. on Singleton Field.
