Lady Trojan Varsity Coach Hill reports….
Once again we hard a hard time getting started, but eventually we got things going and pulled away in the end. We had a hard time hitting the "easy" ones, along with making the free throws. We also found it difficult blocking out the much bigger alumni team.
It was nice to see our team get so many open looks in all of our offenses and inbounds plays, the girls really did a great job of helping each other get open shots all night long. We were also able to play great half court defense tonight, which is a good thing for us, because most of what we do is pressuring full court, but now we know if we have to we can play half court. We were able to win tonight never putting a full court press on! In the past two years we have not been able to do that until tonight.
Cheyanne McFadden had 3 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Veronica Vanderholm had 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Yessenia Escoto had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Sierra Miller had 2 points and 3 rebounds. Angelica Suarez had 6 points. Thalia Lepley had 3 points and 6 rebounds. Hailey Ellsworth had 7 rebounds, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Ofelia Rodriguez had 3 steals. Jackie Guillen had 2 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
