Seventy four teams and no smoke!
Lake Chelan Slam ‘n Jam 3-on-3 has another successful year

“We had great weather, great helpers and no smoke,” said Mike Haerling after the completion of the 16th annual Lake Chelan Slam ‘n Jam 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Basketball competitors have enjoyed this particular 3-on-3 since it began back in 1994 during the Tyee Fire. Each year, many who have been competing here over the years take advantage of Chelan’s great weather to combine the tournament with their family vacations.
GoLakeChelan was able to cover the final championship game for the 18-under teams that pitted Chelan’s Aaron McQuaid, Ryan Sargent, Bronson Louie and Schuyler Neff against “Lights Out” from Wenatchee. Chelan ended up winning that game 16-12 with the final shot coming from McQuaid from beyond the three point line.
The Lake Chelan Slam ‘n Jam was originally started by the now defunct Lake Chelan Recreation Association and currently is under the auspices of the Chelan City Parks Department under Mike Haerling’s direction.
The net proceeds from this event now go entirely to Chelan’s AAU youth programs.
