Many track stars are setting personal best each week

On Saturday, April 10, the Chelan Track and Field Team participated in the Cashmere Invitational Track and Field Meet.
In a field of 12 teams, the boys finished fourth overall. In the 100 meter dash, Michael Amsel Jr. placed third with a time of 12.08 and Matt Peterson took sixth in 12.16.
In the 200 meter dash, Peterson was third in 24.95. Robin Weathersby took a third in the 400 meter run in 54.28. The boys 4X100 relay team of Weathersby, Amsel Jr. Aaron McQuaid and Peterson took second in 45.94. The 4X400 team took third place with Amsel Jr., McQuaid, Cole Schwartz and Peterson finishing in a time of 3:51.32.
Matt Pittsinger had a personal best with the discus, taking first place with a 133’10” and freshman Alex Cortez was fifth with a throw of 109’7”. In the javelin, Pittsinger placed fifth with a throw of 140’ In the long jump, Amsel Jr. was fifth with a leap of 18’6.5”.
On the girls side Darcy Austin placed fourth in the 100 meters in a time of 13.27 and earning her a ranking of ninth in the State 1A rankings.
In the 1500 meters Mirella Carrion took fourth in a time of 12:01.30.
The 4x100 relay team of Kyra Wyant, Bianca Ramirez, Jaicee Harris and Darcy Austin took third with a time of 53.63 and earned them a State 1A ranking of ninth. The 4x200 relay took fourth with Cody Knaub, Maddie Knaub, Harris and Austin in a time of 1:56.69.
