This was a great game for the Lady Trojans, everything went well for the most part both offensively and defensively. I just hope that the girls didn't develop any bad habits on defense as there were times that our posts gambled when they normally would not have done so. It was great to see the girls come out so focused and ready to play. From start to finish the girls left absolutely no doubt about what they were trying to accomplish tonight.

Defensively we had 31 steals as a team, with Veronica Vanderholm leading the way with nine of her own. It’s a good thing we had as many steals as we had because our goal was to have twelve or less turnovers, but we had seventeen and ten of those came in the second half after I challenged the girls to have five or fewer after the first half.

Once again we did have a little trouble finishing our lay-ups as we finished with only ten assists, but it was good to see that seven of the ten came in the second half meaning that the girls were concentrating on what we talked about at half time. Another great thing about this game was the balanced scoring we got from 7 different players. Angelica probably would have scored had she not gotten hurt.

Overall this was a great game for us our defense was incredible and our offense as a whole was as good as it has been this season. Vetta Maynard was her usual self scoring in double figures and stealing the ball numerous times. Marci Nelson only shot three times from the field and made all three, and also got five steals. Whitni England handled the point extremely well again and added ten points of her own. Verna LaCourse had her best game of the year with nine points and four steals. Veronica Vanderholm anticipated many passes throughout the game totally nine steals. Hailey Ellsworth had a great game hitting many outside shots, scoring a total of sixteen points. In fact Hailey proved that she is no longer just a rebounding defender, but also one of our top scoring threats (I hope she reads this!) Abby Bridgewater did a great job fronting every single post player that Waterville threw at her, and had two points to go along with her two rebounds in the game. Angelica Suarez got the start tonight and did a great job guarding a much taller player from the start. She was not intimidated whatsoever by the bigger girls; she ended the game with a steal and an assist.

Thank you to everyone that made the trip up to Waterville and everyone else that listened to the game on the radio. Hopefully we can get BIG crowd on Tuesday at home against Soap Lake for Senior Night.
