Marci Nelson with help from Whitni England take the ball
ENTIAT 63 @ MANSON 47
Coach Hill reports….
This was a great game, which was much closer than the final score shows! We played hard all game, even with our leading scorer (Vetta Maynard) playing very little due to a severely pulled hamstring. With Vetta not able to play the way she would have liked to have, Marci Nelson really picked up the slack with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals all of that while she handled the ball throughout the majority of the game against Entiat’s full court press.

Whitni England goes up for another basket
Another standout performer for us was Whitni England with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Hailey Ellsworth returned to action with 8 points and 4 rebounds. Verna LaCourse chipped in 2 points and 5 rebounds.
Veronica Vanderholm did a tremendous job guarding a much bigger player again while also managing to score 4 of her own points. Abby Bridgewater pulled down 3 rebounds. Angelica Suarez gave us some strong minutes off the bench in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Eva Escoto spelled Vetta a couple times and played great hard-nosed defense.
Yessenia Escoto is working to get back into the swing of things as she was gone for almost a month to Mexico, but she will see a lot more playing time real soon because of her athleticism.
Mindy Neal played well in both the varsity and JV games! She scored 8 points in the JV game and then came into the varsity game and handled the ball a little bit! Vetta worked hard, while in a lot of pain, to score 8 points and get 4 steals.
The girls played much better than most people would think looking at the score, but we actually had a one-point lead in the third quarter when Veronica got her 4th foul and had to come sit down next to me, which is when they began to take advantage of their size.
They are a good basketball team and so are we. We will have some more great battles this season with each other. I am very proud our girls and they way the kept fighting! Throughout the entire game the girls just kept coming back.
