Coach Donene Hendricks reported that the Lady Goats had a great tournament at the annual Sun Dome Festival in Yakima on Friday, September 12. "We finished with a 5-1 record to finish in 9th place out of the 32 teams represented." Chelan defeated Enterprise (Oregon HS) 25-12, 25k-13. In the second match of this pool, the Lady Goats played Wahaikum 25-18, 25-20 and finally lost a close match against Cascade Christian 23-25, 23-25. "In that match we were plagued with numerous serving errors which ultimately cost us this close match," says Hendricks. "Had we won that final match in pool play we would have been reseeded with the top eight teams in the tournament." Because of the team's one loss they ended up in the 9th to 16th place teams who had all come out of the morning session as the number two seeds. "In that bracket, we ended up being the champions defeating Stevenson 25-10, 25-12; beating Darrington 25-13, 25-11; and defeating Riverview in our championship match 25-20, 25-14." Statistically, Sophomore Jaicee Harris had 44 kills on the day. She also had 9 blocks and 14 digs. Jamie Brunner had 29 kills, served 40/45 at the line with 13 aces and 12 digs. Sydney Austin put down 26 kills and was also second in digs with 12. Darby Jenkis had 16 kills and 6 blocks. Houston Robison had 7 kills and 2 blocks. Kelli Bowers came up with 115 assists, 5 kills and served 41/45 with 6 aces. AnneAlise Nelson provided great defense in the back court with 7 digs and received 32 of 37 passes. Nelson also served 32/35 with 7 aces. Sophomore Cari Williams was 9/10 serving and had 2 digs. Senior Kaylee Robelia was 6/8 serving with 3 aces and was 3/4 in serve receive.
