Lady Goats compete well against
Lynden Christian and Burlington Edison
As reported by Coach Donene Hendricks with a note by Richard Uhlhorn
On Saturday we traveled to Burlington- Edison and played two non-league matches. Our first opponent was Lynden Christian. We lost a very hard fought match with the scores of 19-25, 25-23, 18-25, 26-28. Lynden Christian is a very mature team with 7 seniors who are well balanced both offensively and defensively.
After a 30 minute rest we then played Burlington Edison who is the defending 2A State Champion. In this match it was very back and forth with momentum changes as it went 5 sets. Fortunately, we were able to make some big plays at the right time and won 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 16-25, 15-13.
Saturday was a great day of high level volleyball. We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to play two perennial powerhouses in the State. It was encouraging to see our team compete at that level and come away with a win as well as to gain valuable experience. Our overall record is 4-1.

On Thursday our C team will travel to Ephrata for a 5:00pm match. And on Saturday, Oct. 4th we will compete in the Quincy Invitational which will be an eight team tournament. Pool play will start at 9:00 am.
Coach Hendricks remarked after the Ephrata game on Tuesday, September 23, that the Cascade Kodiaks were also traveling to play Lynden Christian and Burnlington-Edison. “We will play one team while they play the other and then we will switch,” Hendricks said.
Cascade is probably the toughest team Chelan will meet in this shortened league and wins are very important to both teams if they want to continue in post play after the season.
Cascade defeated Burlington-Edison in 3 games to 1, but lost to Lynden Christian in three straight games.
