The Lady Goats Softball team hosted the Quincy Jackrabbits in an opening season double header at the Chelan Softball Field.
Chelan won both the opener and the nightcap 15-1 and 20-6 respectfully.
Amanda Reeves pitched the first game and game up only one run on three hits. She had four strikeouts and two base on balls. The Goats played errorless ball and the team hit up and down the line-up.
Jessi Oules went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI, Kati Gleasman was 2 for 4 with a5 RBIs and a grand slam and Freshman Ashley Oswald was 2 for 2 with a double on the day.
In game two, Chelan continued to play great offense and won this effort 20-6. Julia Horlebein was in the cirlce and gave up only four earned runs on five hits, two strikeouts and eight base on balls.
“We booted the ball around a little bit late in the game, but the girls really hung in there and played well.” said Coach Jeff Barker. “Kati Gleasman had an outstanding job all day behind the place and offensively, everyone did a nice job of putting the ball into play.”
Jessi Oules went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Mary Fitspatrick went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs, Amanda Reeves went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a double, Julia Horlebein went 2 for 3 iwth 2 RBIs and Maddy Reynolds went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Coach Barker and his coaching staff is pleased with the effort the girls have shown in the first two weeks of the season. “I want to thank everyone who came out to watch the girls in their first home game,” said Barker.
Barker noted that he is missing some key positions on the team and that the JV team is loaded with girls who’ve never played the game. “We will make the adjustments we need, but it will be an interesting season.”
