Chelan’s Lady Goats lose to Cashmere…
Retain 2nd place in CTL
by Richard Uhlhorn

Chelan’s Lady Goats came back from a huge deficit against the Cashmere Lady Bulldogs in the fourth quarter of play in a game that had the Goats down by as much as 14 points at the end of the second quarter. With only 8.3 seconds remaining on the clock, Chelan was trailing by only two seconds and had the ball, but was unable to score giving Cashmere a squeak through win 43-41.

“I’m proud of the girls,” said Coach Steve Nygreen. “Everyone contributed in this game.” Emma Stockholm had a huge game under the basket scoring a team high 20 followed by Drew Morris who added 10 to the total. Katie Gleasman added six.

Cashmere lost their senior, Breanne Knishka in the third quarter which definitely slowed down Cashmere’s offense. “I hate to see injuries to any player,” said Nygreen. “Fortunately she only twisted her ankle and will be alright. We wanted her on the court.”

Chelan is currently sitting in second place in the Caribou Trail League and will be hosting the Cascade Kodiaks on Friday evening, February 13 in the final regular season game. The two teams have split the two games played so far.
