Manson Apple Blossom Parade 2014 in Photos
What a beautiful day for a parade. The sun shone bright with very few white and fluffy clouds while temperatures in the mid-60's were drifting on pulsing breezes.

Enjoy our GLC Photo Gallery that includes every parade entry in the order of procession. A few after photos are included at the end of the parade photos.

 Grand Marshal Aurora Flores

The Manson Apple Blossom Committee has made its pick for grand Marshal of the 2014 Manson Apple Blossom Parade.

Former Chairman of the Manson Apple Blossom Committee, Aurora Flores, will be honored in the parade, on May 10th.

Aurora started serving on the Apple Blossom Committee in 1995, as chairman of the Queen’s Ball before working her way to selection committee chairman, royalty pageant chairman and finally as chairman of the festival committee. She slowed her involvement in 2004 and became an active member of the Manson School Board of Directors.

She currently works for the Omak School District as an Academic Counselor as part of the Washington Virtual Academy Online learning program.

Aurora enjoys reading cooking and baking, but her real joy comes from spending time with her five grandchildren: Isabella, Violet, Austin, Adrien and Ava.

Aurora and her husband, Balentin have two sons; Gabriel and Jaime, and two daughters; Annmarie, who was an Apple Blossom Princess in 1995, and Valerie who was Apple Blossom Queen 2002.

Queen Hanna Ireland delivered the news to Flores at Monday’s school board meeting- a surprise that Flores says was a humbling moment.

“I feel very honored to have been asked to be grand marshal for the Apple Blossom festival. I know the committee does not take this selection lightly so I appreciate their thoughtful deliberation and selection. It is a great tradition and one that deserves humility.”

Some of Aurora’s favorite memories to date include watching the Manson Apple Blossom float come down the parade route in Manson as well as Wenatchee.

“I was always so proud of the work that the float crew did. It didn't matter if they received an award or not. It was amazing to see how hard the float committee would work to produce an amazing float with the limited resources that a small community can come up with to transform a frame made of iron to something so incredible.”

When asked to reflect on her time as part of the Manson Apple Blossom Festival Committee, Aurora said, “Watching the community enjoy the parade and the festival events brought me a great deal of satisfaction. I will never forget my time working on our great tradition.”

And this year, again, she will be a part of the festivities, but this time, as a dignitary, riding in the parade.

Manson’s parade is known for the wide variety and quality of the entrants- many who continue to come back year after year- changing with the themes.

Manson Apple Blossom Festival organizers continue to work hard behind the scenes in order to make this year’s festival as big as ever.

Visit their website at mansonappleblossom.com and like them on Facebook- to keep up with what is going on.

You will find applications and forms as well as a schedule of events, a photo gallery and a list of our sponsors who make the festival possible on the website: www.mansonappleblossom.com

I want to prove to my friends that yes it is for them and anyone that wants to try has an opportunity, and I want to prove to my bilingual friends that are in school now that they have an opportunity like any other girl in our school to be Manson Apple Blossom Royalty. This is a great opportunity because they would be giving scholarships to who wins, and I want to get enough money to be able to pay for my education.”
