This year we had some amazing entertainment. The Manson High School Guitar Class, directed by Ron McClure, played a few of their awesome selections for us to hear. The class includes Princess Ashley Leffler, who was the vocalist/ rhythm guitar player of the group. Following that act was the North Shore Bible Church ‘In Joy’ Puppet team, directed by Chris Rayment. They did three selections including a very cute skit little introducing the 2005 Apple Blossom Royalty. The last bit of entertainment for the night was the Manson High School Jazz Band, directed by Joey Castilleja. They played a few of their upbeat, enjoyable selections.
In closing we had the customary Grand March, led by the Royalty, followed by the Waltz.

On Sunday, February 27, 2005, the Manson community gathered for one of the biggest events in our town, Manson Apple Blossom Selection.
This year was the 85th year of our Apple Blossom tradition. We had eight lovely ladies competing to fill one of three positions for the Royal Court. Those eight were: Amber Redfield, Keara Holm-Nielsen, Alissia Espinoza, Lilia Mendoza, Jeni Moore, Olivia Fajardo Montes, Remedios Escalera, and Ashley Leffler.
Starting off the afternoon, Mark Nichols and Mike Detering presented the flags, and Whitney Pittman sang the Star Spangled Banner. The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Robert Bowman. Bowman started with the introductions of the judges, visiting royalty, past royalty, the 2004 royalty, the parents of the candidates, and the candidates and their escorts.
After introductions, the candidates gave their prepared speeches with the theme, Grown in Manson. Once the prepared speeches were finished, the candidates were asked an impromptu question.
After a short intermission during which the audience cast their votes for this years’ royalty, Lisa Barnes, the Button Chairperson, presented the awards for the Button Design Winners. Marci Nelson was the first place, and $30, winner, and Juan Lopez earned a special award, as well as $30, for his design, which will be used to make numbered prints.
Entertainment followed the button awards. The candidates and their escorts preformed a dance to A-Teen’s “Upside Down” choreographed by Pat Beratta. Whitney Pittman and Zain Paloalto performed two songs together, and Zain sang another by himself. The Chelan Valley Players also performed a short, comical performance.
Following the entertainment was a slide show bidding farewell to the 2004 Apple Blossom Royalty, who were Queen Sarah Cross, Princess Blanca Guerra, and Princess Hilda Grageda. Sue Crinklaw presented scholarships to one candidate voted on by the escorts, and one escort voted on by the candidates. The scholarships went to Olivia Fajardo Montes and Juan Lopez.
And now for the moment everyone was waiting for, it was time to announce the Manson Apple Blossom Royalty for 2005. Ashley Leffler and Lilia Mendoza were introduced as the Apple Blossom Princesses, and Remedios Escalera was crowned Apple Blossom Queen.
