Manson 7 23 35 35

Seattle Lutheran 8 15 27 42

On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Trojans traveled to West Seattle and took on Seattle Lutheran in a non-league game. The game was very close throughout and came down to the 4th quarter. Both teams had problems hanging onto the ball all day long with Manson putting the ball on the ground 6 times and turning it over twice. Seattle Lutheran posted 3 turnovers. It was definitely a game of momentum which was either gained or lost by turnovers. Both teams were running the ball effectively against eachother but neither team couldn't hang onto it.

The Trojans went into the 4th quarter with an 8 point lead and the ball. Seattle Lutheran's defense really stepped up in the 4th quarter and the yards were getting harder to gain. But even then we were moving the ball fairly well and early in the 4th quarter had an opportunity to go up by 2 touchdowns with possession of the ball on Seattle Lutheran's 30-yard line. It was at that point that we had a costly fumble and the recovery was returned all the way to our own 20-yard line. The momentum had shifted quickly and Seattle Lutheran not only capitalized on that turnover but then scored again in the first half of the 4th quarter bringing the score to 42-35.

The boys didn't panic and put together a really good drive that took up most of the remaining portion of the quarter. It came down to 4 plays to score with 8 yards to the end zone and we just came up short. Seattle Lutheran's line did a great job up front and we had a hard time getting the push we needed. I am proud of the boys and the effort they gave for the entire 4 quarters. Again, we would like to thank all of the fans that traveled over to Seattle to cheer us on. Surprisingly our crowd had just as much of a voice as did the home team's. We will finish our season at home next Friday night, Senior Night, vs. Kittitas, November 8th, at 7:00 PM.
