Saturday, May 24 was the final day of the District VI Tennis tournament, the state tournament qualifier.

Eli Jenkins began his day in the semifinals, but lost to Carlos Perez of Liberty Bell, forcing Eli into the consolation bracket.

At that same time, Bryce Robison staged a great comeback victory over Alexander Robertson of Cashmere 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.  That win combined with Eli's loss forced an unfortunate Chelan vs Chelan (Eli vs Bryce) match with the winner qualifying for state and the loser "out".  It was a hard fought battle, with Jenkins winning in three sets to clinch a state berth.  Also, Jenkins won his final match of the day vs Alberto Quezada of Entiat who forfeited due to injury.  Jenkins will enter the state tournament as a #3 seed.

Despite the loss, freshman Bryce Robison had a third match to play Saturday vs a senior Cascade opponent, for the alternate position to state.  In the third set of that match, during Robison's seventh hour of singles play that day in the heat, Bryce was dogged by leg muscle cramps and was edged out by his opponent 6-3, 1-6, 5-7.

Senior Megan Robinson also began Saturday play in the semifinals, vs Chelan senior teammate Shelby Dietrich.  These Chelan vs Chelan "friendly fire" matches are sad yet exciting to see; they're an unfortunate consequence of the team's overall success in the tournament.  Robinson won the semifinal, which forced Dietrich into the consolation bracket.  Robinson lost the championship match, but will enter the state tournament as a #2 seed.  This is Megan Robinson's 4th state tournament appearance in four years!

In the consolation bracket, Shelby Dietrich defeated her Cashmere opponent 6-2, 6-0.  After the Cashmere win, Dietrich lost her third match of the day, finished 4th in the tournament, and will travel to the state tournament as an alternate.

Doubles team Tanner and Collin Hendricks had a loser out match to start the day, and were narrowly defeated by Liberty Bell, 7-6, 6-4.

Manson player Janine Mackson (practiced with Chelan during the regular season, and was coached by Chelan coaches in the post-season) also had a loser out match to begin the day, winning 6-2, 7-6 over EmmaLee Luft of Pateros.  In Janine's 2nd match (still loser out), she lost to a Cascade opponent who eventually placed 3rd.
