After posting their first league win over the Okanogan Bulldogs, the Chelan soccer team traveled to Seattle on Saturday, March 22, to take on Seattle Academy at Shoreline Stadium. Seattle Academy is one of the premiere high school teams in the state and frequently makes the trip to the State Soccer Tournament.

Kickoff was at 7 p.m. in Shoreline and according to Assistant Coach Jim Broome, the game was a tough one. “Both teams went into the half tied at zero,” reported Broome.

Ten minutes in to the second half, Chelan Freshman Victor Alvarez scored the Goat’s only goal of the game. From that point on, Chelan held off Seattle Academy from scoring until only five minutes were left in the game which ended with the two teams tied at 1-all.

“We want to say a huge thank you to Seattle Academy for helping make this game possible,” said Broome. Seattle Academy paid for hotel rooms for the team and coaches, they also paid for dinner for the whole Chelan team. “We are very appreciative of Seattle Academy's generosity.” They went above and beyond what was expected and helped make it a great weekend of soccer between two great teams.
