Chelan wins double header over Brewster

Chelan hosted Brewster in a double header on Friday, May 2. It was Chelan’s Senior Night and turned out to be a great night of softball for the Lady Goats who got a sweep over the Lady Bears.

In the opener, senior Aleea Ferguson earned the 11-6 win, giving up 5 earned runs on 9 hits, 6 strikeouts and 5 walks.

Offensively, the team scored throughout the lineup. “We had doubles by Julia Horlebein, Maddy Harrison and Katie Gleasman,” said Coach Jeff Barker.

In the nightcap, the Lady Goats poured on the hitting against Brewster, winning the game in the sixth inning by a score of 12-2. “Amanda Reeves pitched a nice game giving up only two runs on 4 hits,” reported Barker. She also had 4 strikeouts and only walked two.

Offensively, the Goats had 11 hits. “Our girls were very disciplined at the plate and it paid off with 3 doubles and a triple in this game,” said Barker.

Jessi Oules went 2 for 3 with a stolen base, Mariela Galvan went 2 for 4 with a double and 4 RBIs and Anna Martin went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple to drive in 3 RBIs.

“The girls played pretty solid defense in both games and committed only one error in the second game.”

The team finishes League play with a double header this coming Friday, May 9, in Quincy.
