Chelan’s Lady Goats shutout the defending League Champion Cascade Kodiaks 10-0 on Tuesday, April 8. “We played an extremely great defensive game,” said Coach Jeff Barker. “I can tell you that all of our coaches are very proud of the way this young team played. We used our speed and kept the pressure on their defense the entire game.”

Amanda Reeves was in the circle for Chelan and did an outstanding job of getting ahead of hitters and kept them off-balance. Reeves gave up 10 hits, 1 base on balls and 1 strikeout. “She did a great job defending her position.”

Defensively, the entire team was outstanding. “We had a few real standouts including Mariela Galvan at 2nd base, Reeves in the circle, Mary Fitspatrick in left field and Katie Gleasman behind the plate,” said Barker.

Offensively, Chelan out hit Cascade with 14 hits on the day. “We had only one strikeout and everybody in the lineup did a nice job of putting the ball into play and moving the girls around the bases.”

“Our leadoff hitter, Jessi Oules really got everything going for us all night,” said Barker. Oules went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Katie Gleasman backed that up going 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Mariela Galvan was 2 for 3 and Mary Fitspatrick was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and 1 stolen base. “We also had a hit and stolen base by Madisyn Harrison who did a nice job in center field for us.”

Chelan hosts Omak on Thursday, April 10 for a double-header beginning at 3 p.m. and the night cap at 4:30 p.m.
