Chelan soccer defeats Cascade 4-0
by Richard Uhlhorn (as reported by Asst. Coach Jim Broome)

Chelan’s control of the soccer ball led the team to a 4-0 victory over the Cascade Kodiaks. “Chelan played very well today and did a great job working as a team,” reported Asst. Coach Jim Broome.

The team controlled the ball in the middle of the field with senior Ivan Magdaleno and freshman Rafael Barajas working hard. In the end, Chelan’s attack proved too much for the Kodiaks. The Goats had 23 shots on goal to Cascade’s 5.

It wasn’t until the 30th minute in the game that junior captain Juan Garcia scored Chelan’s first goal from an assist by Julio Vera. “Julio had a great cross of a free kick and Juan found the back of the net,” said Broome.

In the second half, Chelan put Cascade under a vicious attack at the beginning. In the 50th minute, senior Hmberto Ramirez kicked Chelan’s second goal of the game off an assist from Ivan Montalvo. Ramirez found the back of the net again in the 65th minute off an assist by Victor Alvarez. Freshman Rarajas scored the final goal for Chelan in the 67th minute on a long 40 yard kick.

Senior Miguel Sanchez and freshman Ben Banuelos both spent time goal keeping for Chelan in this game.

Chelan plays Quincy on Thursday, April 10 at Mt. Goat Field.
