Lady Goats have tough
outing against Lynden Christian

The Chelan Lady Goats hosted Kittitas and Lynden
Christian in a pair of non-league games on Saturday, March 22.
Chelan faced a tough, experienced Lynden Christian team
in game one. Lynden Christian fielded seven seniors and was very strong
offensively and defensively. They ended up with a 11-2 win over the Lady Goats.
Aleea Ferguson pitched five innings, giving up 5 earned
runs on 13 hits and had 2 strikeouts and 0 walks.
Game 2 had the Lady Goats playing Kittitas. “We struggled
defensively in this game,” said Coach Jeff Barker. Chelan lost to Kittitas
Amanda Reeves started in the circle and went 3 2/3rds innings,
giving up 3 earned runs on 12 hits with 2 strikeouts and 0 base-on-balls. “Aleea
came in to relieve Amanda and didn’t fair any better,” said Barker. Ferguson
gave up 4 earned runs on 5 hits and struckout 3, but allowed 3 base on balls.
“We have six new varsity players and four of them are
freshmen,” said Barker. “I thought the younger girls did quite well. Katie
Gleasman and Maddy Harrison did a nice job behind the dish.
Offensively, Jessie Oules was the lead-off hitter and
went 4-for-7 at the plate and had a great debut at shortstop. Gleasman was
2-for-5 with a home run, triple and 3 RBIs. Lindsey Brownfield was 3-for-6 with
2 triples. Amanda Reeves was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI.
Chelan hosts N.W. Christian on Tuesday, March 25 with the
first pitch at 4:30. N.W. Christian was second in the state tournament the last
Chelan’s JV squad won both of their games, beating
Kittitas 14-4 and 22-12.
