Warren Gormley took the
mound for the Chelan Goats in their first home game of the season.
Chelan beats Orting in
non-league action 3-2
by Richard Uhlhorn
For years, Orting’s baseball team has made the trip to
Chelan to play a non-league baseball game. For years, host Chelan has suffered
defeat at the hands of the Cardinals. This year, however, the Goats played an
excellent game and came up 3-2 winners over Orting.
Starting on the mound was Freshman Warren Gormley who pitched well. He was
relieved by Jerad Anderson who also pitched well.
There were a few errors committed on the defense, but
when the play counted the Goats were up to the task. Warren Gormley took a fly
ball deep in Center Field and fired it all the way to third base for an out,
saving the potential tying run from being in scoring position.
Chelan has between 15 and 18 players out and the team is
under new coaching with Todd Corrigan taking on the role. “They had fun out
there today,” said Corrigan. “If this team shows up, we will be just fine.”
On Tuesday, March 25, N.W. Christian will be in town for
another non-league game. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
