Manson Boys Place 2nd at Districts, Move onto State

The Manson boys cross country team exceeded expectations on Friday at the District 5/6 meet in Ellensburg and placed 2nd to qualify for the Washington State Cross Country Championships in Pasco next weekend.  Liberty Bell placed 1st with 26 points and then Manson squeaked out Bickleton by a single point to grab the second and last qualifying spot.

This is the first time in school history that Manson has qualified a full team to the state cross country meet.  There have been several years Manson has qualified individuals through to state, but never a full team.

It was a cold and rainy afternoon at Rinehart Park in Ellensburg.  The course was saturated but the kids were excited about the opportunity to compete in muddy/adverse conditions.  The boys ignored the elements to put forth their fastest times of the year.

Here are the individual results:

7.  Angel Garcia

11. Olegario Orozco

13.  Miguel Leyva

17.  Sam Thomas

21.  Salvador Leyva

31.  Jesse Russell

All the boys ran personal bests for this distance.
