Coach Thompson reports:

Game Highlights:

Our team has greatly improved and it was showcased during this double header. The Trojan team scored 19 runs on the day with some great hits, outstanding plays in the field and our best base running of the year.

Trojans with hits were Travis Pittman, Kent Ustanik, Daniel Torres, Mikey Pittman, James Calhoun and Jared LaMar. Senior Kent Ustanik had two triples on the day and is leading the team in hitting.

Kent Ustanik also was the starting pitcher in game one. Kent had four strike outs and had an excellent fast ball on the day. Travis Pittman came in relief in both games and is a consistent pitcher who rarely walks a batter. Chris McFadden was the game 2 starter and did an outstanding job. Chris has an amazing curve ball and he does a great job of keeping the runners close with a super quick pick off move.

The defensive highlights of the day came from Chayse Brooks and Mikey Pittman who both played catcher for a game. These young men practiced hard all week working to better their blocking and throwing skills. Their hard work paid off and both had excellent games. Mikey Pittman threw out a would be base stealer for the first time this season and this was only the second time in two years the Trojans have caught someone stealing.

A mention must also be made of the outstanding circus catch by Senior Bryan Perez in right field who caught a high pop fly after colliding with the second baseman Daniel Torres. Perez was able to hang on and would have surely made the plays of the week.

Our next game is a home game on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 vs. Liberty Bell first pitch 4:05 p.m., followed by a trip to Oroville for a double header on Friday, March 29th, first pitch 3:35 p.m.
