Baseball Report - Manson vs. Waterville DH

Game 1: Waterville 27 Manson 1

Game 2: Waterville 16 Manson 6

Saturday March 16th, 2013

at Singleton Field, Manson WA

Head Coach: Bill Thompson

Assistant Coach: Graham Monteleone

Athletic Director: Ken Nelson

Coach Thompson reports:

The Trojan team is very young and coachable; I expect we have very good things coming in the future. I was impressed with our seniors Travis Pittman, who was the starting pitcher in game 1, and Kent Ustanik who was the catcher in game one and the starting pitcher in game 2; both threw a lot of pitches, battled through tough innings and wanted to continue pitching late into the game. Kent also bounced back quickly after a collision at home plate.

The fans were treated to three amazing catches in left field from three different fielders; Carlos Mendoza, Julio Pena, and Davis Guillen each had a catch that brought the crowd to their feet and Julio turned his catch into a double play at second base.

Our bats heated up during the 2nd game and we scored four runs in the fifth inning and showed what I knew our team was capable of doing. Mike Sanchez, Kent Ustanik, Jared LaMar, Travis Pittman and Daniel Torres all had hits for the Trojans.

A thank you goes out to Wy Peterson and the Manson Parks Department for helping us get our field ready and providing fill dirt for the field—thanks so much!

Our next game is Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Lake Roosevelt. This will be the Trojan’s first league game, followed by a double header on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Bridgeport followed by our next home game on March 26, 2013 vs. Liberty Bell.

GO TROJANS!
