2/6 GBB -Riverside Christian
Lady Trojans End the 2012-13 Season
Coach Kurt Toolson reports:
The Manson girls basketball team went down to defeat in their last game of the season, 49-21, against the highly rated Riverside Christian team. RC used their superior size and shooting to jump out to an early lead that never was threatened. Boasting a line up of 3 sisters that are all 6' tall, the Crusaders dominated in all phases of the game.
Manson played well, considering the level of competition they were facing. I thought we did a pretty good job against their press and running our offense. Our rebounding was aggressive despite the size deficet we faced. The girls did well in playing with great effort the whole game even though we trailed by double digits most of the time.
Like many of our games this year, we were lead in scoring by Itzel Castro with 13. She also had 4 steals. Jacque Guillen also had a nice game, scoring 7. Raechel Vanderholm scored 4 to go along with 10 rebounds.
I thought the girls showed a lot of improvement over last year, in effort, attitude, and basketball skill. We did not win as many games as we would have liked but I consider the season a success considering where we started from and playing many of the games short handed due to injuries or eligibility issues.
I wanted to thank all of the community and student body for their outstanding support this year. I know the girls recognized how much support we got from the fans Kudos also go to Mr. Brown and the pep band. They are easily the best band in the district. One last shout out goes to Mrs. Hodges and the cheerleaders. We also appreciated their efforts.
I definitely should thank the scorekeepers, clock operators, and anyone else who helped with the logistics of the season.
Until next year,
