Chelan extended their overall record to 7-0 to remain undefeated in volleyball action this year. In a three game match, Chelan defeated the Omak Pioneers 25-9, 25-18, 25-15.

Play was very evenly spread out across the board for Chelan with Abby Phelps leading the way with 19 kills, 8 digs and 7/7 serving. She was followed by Makenzie Harris who had 12 kills and 2 digs on the evening. Both of them were being fed by Johanna Fuller who ended the evening’s play with 40 assists.

The Lady Goats ran into some early difficulty against the Pioneers in Game 2 as Omak matched them point for point up to about 12. Chelan finally got its defense going against their offense and closed that game out 25-18.

Omak also played well in the Game 3, but was no match for the impressive back court defense and line play by Megan Robinson (9 digs), Karle Pittsinger (5 kills), Jenny Sunberg (3 kills), Aleea Ferguson (4 digs), Tess Young (3 digs), Haley Holliday (3 digs) and Emma Stockholm (4 digs)

On the service line, Chelan was equally good with Megan Robinson and Aleea Ferguson leading the serving game with 13/13 each followed by Haley Holliday with 8/8.

As we go to press, the Cascade Kodiaks remain undefeated, beating Brewster in three games. They are in second place with a record of 6-0 and will face Chelan on October 17 in the Chelan High School gymnasium.

Chelan’s JV team won its match, but the ‘C’ Squad lost.

Chelan v Brewster:

Last Saturday, October 5, the Lady Goats traveled to Brewster and all three squads posted wins. However the varsity match wasn’t all that easy for the Lady Goats who won in three exciting games, 28-26, 25-21, 25-14.

Abby Phelps had an incredible 24 kills, 4 blocks and 8 digs to lead the Goats. Johanna Fuller had 34 assists and 3 blocks. Jenny Sundberg led the team in blocks with 5 and also contributed 6 kills from her middle position.

In the back court, Megan Robinson dug out 7 balls with Aleea Ferguson right behind her with 5 digs.

On the service line, Abby Phelps and Haley Holliday were both 10/10 and Johanna Fuller served 10/11 with 1 ace.
