It took Chelan’s Lady Goats about one-half of a game against Cashmere to warm up and turn on the offense before winning the match in three solid games, 25-16, 25-8, 25-9.

In game one, Cashmere looked like they were going to challenge Chelan by keeping the score close. Coach Donene Hendricks took a time-out late in the game when Chelan had forged a 19-13 lead. Chelan allowed Cashmere only three more points before closing it out 25-16.

Game two and game three were no starters for Cashmere. Abby Phelps, Jenny Sundberg, Makenzie Harris and Karle Pittsinger kept pounding away at Cashmere’s defense with Abby pounding out 17 kills in this match. She was being set beautifully by Johanna Fuller who finished the match with 36 assists.

Sophomore Haley Holiday was superb on the service line with 11/12 serving and eight aces. It is fun to watch the younger players come up from the JV squad and do well. Sophomore Emma Stockholm added four kills to the evening and at 6’2,” will be a major factor in Chelan’s offense in the future.

Both the C Squad and JV team won their matches also.

Abb Phelps – 17 kills, 14/15 serving w/2 aces
                Makenzie Harris – 5 kills
Jenny Sundberg – 6 kills and 1 block
                Johanna Fuller – 36 assists, 8/10 serving w/2 aces
                Haley Holiday – 11/12 serving w/8 aces
                Emma Stockholm – 4 kills

Chelan’s win extended their league record to 4-0. They will travel to Tonasket on Thursday, October 3, for a league match.
