soccer team loses first league match to Omak

Coach Jim Broome reports that the Lady Goat soccer
team struggled in more ways than one this past week when they played Omak in
their first league match of the year. “We struggled to get girls eligible and
only had 11 players for this game,” wrote Coach Broome. “The girls played hard
for 80 minutes with no substitutes and lost 6-3.”
The girls came out strong in the opening minutes of
this game with sophomore Casey Jackson scoring Chelan’s first goal 15 seconds
after the game started. It took 15 minutes for Omak to tie the score with their
first goal of the game.
Chelan struggled late in the first half and Omak
took advantage, scoring four more goals in a short 10 minute span. Several
minutes later, Jackson scored her second goal of the game and Omak went into
the half with a 5-2 lead.
In the second half, Chelan recovered from a rough
first half and was able to compete better with the Pioneers. Omak scored its
final goal in the 55th minute and with only two minutes left, Daisy Franco
scored off a penalty kick after being taken down by the goal keeper in the 18
Chelan’s next match is Tuesday, September 24 at 4:30
p.m. in Quincy.
