Chelan plays second round of districts v Okanogan today
By Richard Uhlhorn
Chelan beat Bridgeport last Saturday 5-0 in their first round of district play. They ended the regular season in a tie for first place with the Quincy Jackrabbits who defeated them in a shoot-out on April 30.
Today, Tuesday, May 7, the Goats host Okanogan in the second round of Bi-District Play. Cost for the game is $6 per adult and $5 for students who have an ASB card.
Chelan v Tonasket – May 2
Chelan played in Tonasket on May 2 for their final league match of the year and came up with a 2-1 win securing the Caribou Trail League Championship.
Chelan v Quincy – April 30
This was a heartbreaker. Chelan and Quincy played to a 1-1 tie to force the game into two five minute overtimes which neither team was able to score. So the game went to a shootout which Quincy won and left Chelan with a 3-2 victory.
This game was senior night with David Cruz, Diego Avina, Alejandro Angulo, Eleazar Galvan Danny Mendoza, Erik Garcia, Javier Mata, Juan Galvez, Luis Garcia, Junior Gonzalez and Jose Ruiz graduating from the team this year.
The game was a bitter sweet one for Eleazar Galvan who left the game early on two yellow cards.
Chelan is playing some very good soccer and heading into the post season, the team hopes to repeat last year’s effort and get to the state championship game. Last year, the Goats ended in second place.
