5.21.13 State Golf
After weather forecasts of doom and gloom, the day turned out rather nice with just one half-hour cloud burst around 2 pm today! Our Chelan HS golfers had some some ups and downs, but will be sending 2 players on to the Day 2 final round. Leading the way and currently tied for 11th was senior Sam Cooper, who came in with an 88 for the day (44/44). She will tee off at 7:48am on Wednesday. Coming in tied for 22nd place and just missing the cut line by 1 position and 2 strokes was junior Quinn Cooper with a 95, and freshman Casey Jackson came in tied for 33rd with a 103 (49/54).
For the boys, senior Ian Cowell shot an 82 (42/40) and will continue on to Day 2 currently tied for 25th and 11 shots back of the leader. He will be teeing off at 9:35am. Sophomore Elijah Larson came in 4 shots over the cut line with an 89 (43/46), tied for 57th, and senior Zach Burchett came in with a 92 (46/46), tied for 63rd.
It's been a great season for these golfers, and we wish these two seniors who qualified for Day 2 the best of luck! Unfortunately we will not be able to vie for a team title for either squad as you need to have two players make it to the final day to be in consideration for team awards.
