It was very obvious from the kickoff that Chelan was going to be on the offensive against Cedar Park Christian. Once the team found its momentum, they couldnít be stopped.

Cedar Parkís goalie was staunch and tough in the first 19 minutes of this game, denying Chelan five attempts on goal, but then Eleazar Galvan got the ball off an assist from Alejandro Angulo and it was just Eleazar and the goalie. The goalie never wins in this situation and Chelan scored its first of six eventual goals while denying Cedar Park on the defensive side of the field. Miguel Sanchez didnít see too much action, but when he did, he was able to stoop a much larger Cedar Park team for the shutout.

In the 27th minute, it was Eleazar off an assist by Ivan Magdaleno, scoring the second goal of the game. Cedar Parkís goalie was getting frustrated at this point as Chelan was showing much better ball control which gave them more opportunities to score. Cedar Park packed its defense to stop the onslaught for the rest of the first half, denying Chelan another goal.

In the second half, Cedar Park tried to stop Chelan by packing its defense which worked for a short time, but then Eleazar crossed to Humberto Ramirez who headed the ball past the goalie for Chelanís third goal in the 54th minute.

Six minutes later Humberto was fouled hard in the 18 yard box and was awarded a penalty kick. He scored the fourth goal of the night. At this time, Cedar Park was clearly reeling from the Chelan offensive drives and the goalie was completely frustrated.

Erik Garcia got the fifth goal on a pass from Danny Mendoza and then Ivan Magdaleno scored the final goal off a cross from Galvan to give Chelan a tremendous first round win in State Playoffs.

For the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 18, Chelan will host across town rival, the Manson Trojans. This is a chance for local soccer fans to see their teams battle it out for the right to play in the semi-final and hopefully state championship game in the Sunset Chevrolet Stadium in Sumner, Washington, May 24 and 25.

Chelan played a very tough Manson Trojan team on April 11 and came away 3-0 victory. Manson wants revenge. Many of the players on both teams are friends, cousins and teammates on club soccer teams in the summer. So there is a lot of pride riding on this game and it is a loser out game.

The game begins at 11 a.m. at Mtn. Goat Field by Wal-Mart. It is a state playoff game so admission is charged. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for students with ASB cards.
