Chelan Tennis teams enter spring break unbeaten

Next home match April 11 at Lake Chelan Shores

By Richard Uhlhorn

Before Chelan High School’s tennis season began, Coach Marty Rothlisberger commented that this year’s young team was going to surprise some people. After losing a number of seniors last year, many in the CTL thought Chelan would be back in a rebuilding phase. Not so… entering the Spring Break, both Chelan’s girls and boys teams are undefeated in CTL action.

Tonasket @ Chelan, Fri Mar 29

Congratulations go to the following varsity players who remain undefeated: Frank Rosas, Adrien DuBois, Cheyenne Crose and Shelby Dietrich.

Cheyenne Crose won a difficult match to help the girls beat Tonasket 3-2. “Hers was the final varsity match on the court,” wrote Rothlisberger. “With the team score tied 2-2, hers was the deciding match. Cheyenne was down 0-3 in the first set before winning seven out of the next nine games to come back and win that set. The second set was close, but Cheyenne finally took it with her consistency and long rallies.”
