Manson Track team's excursion to the Easton Invitational in Snohomish can be described as the good, the bad and the ugly.
The weather was perfect. 65 and partly sunny with just a little breeze. Perfect running weather.
Marcus Vanderholm ran a 4:40 1600m to beat his best time by 2 seconds. That currently ranks him first in our district and 5th in state.
Our boys 4x100 relay team broke their season best time by over 2 seconds. They still have room for improvement as well, as they did not have one clean exchange during the race.
Aylee Neff long jumped 14'1", beating her personal best by almost 8 inches. I have not had a female jumper go over 13' before, so to have her break 14' is a real accomplishment.
Paul Toolson ran a 57 sec. 400m that was well paced and looked almost effortless.
It was a tough day for our throwers. For whatever reason, we did not have it on Saturday. Our throwers have been some our strongest competitors this year but at this meet it seemed to be just one of those days where nothing went well.
Ofelia Rodriguez, our top sprinter, hurt her hamstring at practice on Friday so she was unable to compete. Unfortunately, her injury caused the relay teams not to be able to compete. Her status will be evaluated as the week goes on and we see how quickly she recovers.
Our next meet is Tuesday at Eastmont high school.
