On Saturday the Manson Track team travelled to Kittitas to compete in our south division meet against Riverside Christian, White Swan, Kittitas, Soap Lake, Entiat, and CBSS.  The weather was perfect for a track meet and we all came home either slightly tanned or sunburned.  As is typical of a track competition, we had some real good performances, some typical performances, and few disappointing ones as well.  The top 4 finishers moved on to the district meet next Saturday at Eastmont.

The girls team did a good job with what we have to work with.  We have suffered through several injuries the past couple of weeks that have really set the team back.  This meet was no different.  Ofelia Rodriguez, who was just rounding back into shape after suffering a hamstring injury, reinjured herself again in the 100m and was unable to compete the rest of the meet.  Itzel Castro, who has been nursing a knee injury, bravely filled in for Ofelia in the 4x100m relay so the rest of the team was able to compete.  We were also missing Aylee Neff who was at State FFA over the weekend.

Moving on to districts on the girls side:

1.  Cheyanne McFadden in the 1600m.

2.  Eli Leyva with a 2 second pr in the 400m.

3.  Jaque Guillen with an 8 second pr in the 800m.

4.  Stephanie Quiroz in the 200m.

5.  The girls 4x200 and 4x100 relay teams.

The boys team competed well and placed 3rd overall behind Kittitas and Riverside Christian.

Bailey Stevens placed 2nd in both the 100 and 200, running personal bests in both races.

Marcus Vanderholm won the 1600m and 3200m and placed 2nd in the 800.  His 1600m time was a personal best by 6 seconds.

Alex Vanderholm won the discus and placed 3rd in the shot put.

Casey Sorensen won the shot put.  He was also the bad luck winner of the meet, missing qualifying for districts by a quarter inch in the discus and by 6 inches in the javelin.

The boys 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams placed 3rd.

Our next meet is districts on Saturday.  We are crossing our fingers that we will have several athletes qualify through to state.

We would like to thank all the parents who made the long drive out on Saturday.  Especially the Hardings, who feed our whole team lunch.
