3/24 Baseball Bridgeport
Manson Baseball March 24th vs. Bridgeport
From Coach Bill Thompson
The Manson baseball team travelled to Bridgeport to take on the Mustangs in their season opener and it was a great day that began a new look for Trojan baseball.
The Trojan baseball team is playing a JV schedule this year and with league approval includes eighth grade players. Twelve players make up the roster, led by three seniors: Luis Vasquez, Curtis McClellan and Travis Pittman.
Saturday was an exciting day of baseball in Bridgeport with the Trojans winning their first game 23-1 against a youthful Bridgeport JV team.
The battery of Curtis McClellan pitching and Mikey Pittman catching proved to be too much power for the Mustangs to handle, and the Trojan offense exploded for 23 runs before the dust settled.
In the second game of the double header, Bridgeportís line-up changed from JV to include varsity starters. The final score was 9 to 7 in Bridgeportís favor when the game was called in the fourth inning due to an agreed upon time limit. Travis Pittman made his debut on the mound and had an outstanding outing.
The Trojans broke in their brand new bats and pounded out 20 hits and 30 runs on the day and Curtis McClellan led the team going 7 for 7.
Manson plays again this afternoon against the Waterville Shockers at 6 p.m at the Chelan baseball field.
