Coach Toolson reports:

Manson began its league schedule at home on Tuesday night against Bridgeport.  The girls came out playing really well and jumped to a quick 4-0 lead.  However, we quickly went into an offensive slump where nothing would fall for us despite getting good looks at the basket.  Bridgeport used there size advantage against us and got some easy looks underneath to seize control of the game.  We ended the first period down by 7.

In the second quarter we tried to go into a trapping defense to generate some turnovers and maybe get some transition baskets to jump start our offense.  The strategy backfired when Bridgeport expertly moved the ball well and got a few uncontested layins.  Our offensive struggles continued in the second quarter as we only scored 2 points in that frame.  We trailed to 25-10 at halftime.

Unfortunately, the second half was more of the same.  We continued to be unable to score consistently and Bridgeport pulled away even further.  To add injury to the insult, we had 2 girls go down in the 4th quarter and had to be taken out for the rest of the game.  They will be evaluated as the week goes on for their playing status.  The final score was Bridgeport 47 and Manson 17.
