We traveled to Pateros Friday night and finished up our league play shutting out the Billygoats 49-0.   There was quite a bit riding on this last game and our boys knew that they had to take care of business.  Our first touchdown came early in the first quarter on a 44 yard run by Javier Guillen.  The second score came later in the quarter on a 9 yard pass from Kent Ustanik to Uriel Lopez, and the 2 point conversion was good from Ustanic to Marcus Vanderholm.  Pateros came out in the first quarter and really played tough, defensively.  Besides a couple of big plays by Guillen and Ustanik they made it difficult for us to get anything going.

The second quarter was a different story.  Our defensive and special teams play really excelled.  Our defense really put our offense in great field position and allowed us to tack on a few more touchdowns.  Jesus Lopez scored twice in the quarter, once on a 21 yard run and again on a 70 yard punt return.  He had one more punt return for 62 yards that came up just short of the goal line.  Javier Guillen connected with Marcus Vanderholm on a 10 yard pass.  This was Javier’s second passing TD of the year.  Guillen also added one more rushing touchdown on a 21 yard run and Mike Pittman also scored on a 22 yard run up the middle.  Our offensive line, consisting of Travis Pittman, Casey Sorensen, Curtis McClellen, Alex Fajardo, and Luis Vasquez, did an amazing job for the first half reading their assignments and blocking until the whistle.

The game ball has to go to our defense and special teams play.  The defense held Pateros to -12 total yards of offense and was led by Javier Guillen who posted 6 solo, 4 assists, 1 batted ball and 2 sacks.  Marcus Vanderholm, Luis Vasquez, Uriel Lopez and Jesus Lopez also had amazing efforts on the defensive side of the ball.

Rushing- Javier Guillen: 7-72-2TD, Jesus Lopez: 3-36-1TD, Kent Ustanik: 2-8, Jorge Tejada: 6-11, Mike Pittman: 1-22-1TD,

Passing- Kent Ustanik: 4/6 for 64 yds and 1 TD.  Javier Guillen: 1/1 for 10 yds and a TD, Lalo Verduzco: 0/1.

Receiving- Gabe Garcia: 3-55, Marcus Vanderholm 1-10 and a TD, Uriel Lopez 1-9 and a TD.

Jorge Tejada was 4/6 on PAT’s and Alex Fajardo was 0/1 on a 42 yard field goal attempt.

We would like to thank the Trojan fans that traveled up to Pateros to watch and support our team.  We had a great turnout and it is very much appreciated.

Our next game is Tuesday, November 1st in Bridgeport.  There will be 2 “mini games” and the first begins at 7:00 PM between Brewster and Oroville.  The games consist of two 10 minute halves with a 10 minute half time.  The winner of the first game between Brewster and Oroville will play Manson 40 minutes after the conclusion of the first game for 1st and 2nd place in the northern portion of our league.  We hope to see you all there!!!
