Coach Scott Ward reports:

Manson 14 vs. Davenport 28

Manson          0      0       7     7

Davenport      0      7       7    14

The Trojans traveled to Davenport and lost a tough non-league game.  The first half was a defensive battle with neither team wanting to give.  The Gorillas finally scored on a 35 yard pass with 40 seconds remaining in the 2nd period to make the first half score Manson 0 and Davenport 7.  I thought that our defense did a really good job being physical and making some big plays during the first half of play.  Our offense just had a tough time getting into any rhythm.

The second half started well as we marched the ball 72 yards down the field for an opening second half touchdown.  The drive was led by senior Running Back/Quarter Back Javier Guillen.  Davenport answered back with a nice drive of their own to make the score 14-7.

Besides a 5 yard rushing touchdown by Javier Guillen, the fourth quarter was pretty much owned by the Gorillas putting 2 more rushing touchdowns on the board and sealing the victory.  We played pretty hard for most of the game but Davenport hit us a little harder than we hit them, had a few bigger plays then we had, and wanted the victory just a little more than we did.

I would like to thank all of the fans that traveled all the way over to Davenport to cheer on our Trojans.  The players and coaching staff really appreciate all of the support.

Rushing:  Javier Guillen-14/63/1, Casey Sorensen-3/10, Kent Ustanik- 5/9,  and Paul Toolson- 1/5.

Receiving:  Marcus Vanderholm-2/30/1 , Javier Guillen-2/5, Alex Espinoza-1/13

QB:  Kent Ustanik-4/12 for 35, Javier Guillen 1/1 for 13 and a TD.
