Chelan takes So. Whidbey Tourney for third year in row

Chelan’s Lady Goats are becoming well known at the South Whidbey Volleyball Tournament. For the past three years they have won this tournament against much larger schools. This year the girls had an outstanding outing, chalking up their third tournament win. “It was the best volleyball we have played this year as a new team,” said Coach Hendricks.

“Our consistent passing, serving and defensive play was key in winning this tournament,” she added.

In pool play, the team beat Bremerton 25-13, 25-9, Lynwood 31-29, 14-8 and Nooksack Valley 25-13, 25-8. The Lynwood game was called at 45 minutes for a time cap.

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) fell to the Lady Goats in a tough semi-final match 26-24, 27-25 which put Chelan up against Meadowdale in the championship match. Meadowdale went down 25-19, 25-18.

“It was great to see our girls have to really dig in and battle in several of the close sets, especially against Lynnwood and Lakeside.” Hendricks said that staying focus and composed in games that are close were the key to the wins. “It was just some really good volleyball to watch and I'm so proud of them!”
