Chelan’s Lady Goats survived a tough District to continue play in the Bi-District Tournament in Colville this coming Saturday. They will face Lakeside at noon.

After losing to number two seeded Okanogan in game one 10-6, Chelan played a loser out game against Omak, winning this game 8-4.

Against Okanogan, the girls played hard, had only two errors, scored two runs in the first inning off a Danielle Smythe homerun to get the team started. “They answered with three runs, two by homeruns in the bottom of the first,” reported Coach Jeff Barker. “The game went back and forth and it just came down to better clutch hitting by Okanogan.”

Danielle Smythe was on the mound and gave up eight earned runs on three strikeouts and five base on balls.

The game against Omak was another tight one until the sixth inning. “This was a game where we had a little help in the middle of our lineup and the girls off the bench gave us some much needed help running the bases.”

Samantha Frederick had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s during the CTL District Championships.

Chelan was missing an infield starter in both games and Barker plugged in freshman Kara Kronbauer at second base. “She did a great job for us defensively all day with no errors.”

Smythe gave up six hits and had three strikeouts and four base on balls in the Omak game.

Offensively, Hailey Habich was 3 for 8, Courtney Dietrich went 2 for 7, Danielle Smythe was 4 for 7 with a homerun, Courtney Smith was also 4 for 7 with a double and Samantha Frederick was 3 for 8.

Chelan faces Lakeside, the NES District # 2 seed at noon on Saturday in Colville. If they win this game, they will continue on to state play.

Win, lose, tie... Sofball is just a lot of fun.
