Chelan golfers racking up wins

On Friday, April 13, the Chelan boys golf team traveled to the Chewelah Invitational to play against 116 golfers from 23 teams in this tournament.
Chelan’s Ian Cowell ended up as the medalist for the event coming in at a 3-over par 73 for the day. Cristian Krumbah tied for third place with a 77 and as a team, Chelan came in tied for 5th overall, only 10 strokes behind the number one team. Chelan’s Derek Ahl also had a great dayon Friday, coming in with an 82, in a tie for 21st and also winning the ‘KP’ award on hole 4.
Chelan traveled to Desert Canyon on Wednesday, April 11 and took on Waterville, Manson, Oroville and Riverside Christian.
The day’s medalist was Derrick Phelps of Riverside with a 4 over 40, followed closely by Chelan’s Cristian Krumbah with a 41 and Ian Cowell and Zach Burchett both with 42s.
Chelan took team honors with a 170, besting Riverside Christian by five strokes.
The girls ended there day with a 206 stroke total against Oroville with 310. These two teams were the only girls to field a team.

For the girls, only one other school besides Chelan had enough girls to have a team score. Chelan girls ended the day with a 206, followed by Oroville with a 310. Medalists for the girls were Sam and Quinn Cooper of Chelan, each shooting a 45 for the day.
“Overall a lot of good scores today for Chelan on a course that many of them have never seen or been on before,” said Coach Einspahr. “There was a lot of extra walking between greens and tee boxes too.”
On April 10, Chelan hosted the Wenatchee JV boys and girls and the Eastmont JV girls teams in some of the best weather all year.
The Chelan Boys came out on top with a score of 337 for 18 holes to Wenatchee’s 384.
Medalist for the boys was junior Ian Cowell of Chelan with a 3-over 75, followed closely by teammate senior Cristian Krumbah with a 79.
The Chelan girls also came out on top with a 228 team score for 9 holes to Eastmont’s 288 (Wenatchee only had one girl finish, so no team score).
Chelan’s top three girls led the way with a 45 by junior Sam Cooper, a 51 by sophomore Quinn Cooper, and a 56 by senior Lexi Burchett.
