Lady Goats continue to dominate volleyball court

Tuesday’s volleyball match against the Cashmere Bulldogs was another night of ho-hum volleyball for the Lady Goats. The final scores do not tell the story and Chelan finalized their final match with a three straight wins, 25-18, 25-17, 25-10.

Cashmere is another young team with plenty of talent, but lacks experience at the net. Despite having some height, the team was unable to pass and set their hitters. Chelan has problems with playing their best volleyball against lesser teams and it showed on Tuesday night.

In game one Chelan jumped out to a 13-4 lead, but allowed Cashmere to lose by only 7 points in the end. Game two was much the same with Chelan leading the Bulldogs 15-6, but winning the game 25-19. In game three, the Goats finally put the Bulldogs out 25-10.

It was senior night and all three seniors and their parents were honored for their contributions to the Chelan Athletic programs.

Statistically, the coaches are only naming the top three players in any given match. This match had Courtney Dietrich finishing with 13 kills, 1 block, 5 digs, and 11/13 serving with 3 aces. Abby Phelps had 10 kills, 14 assists, 1 block, 7 digs, 21/23 serving with 3 aces. Maddie Dietrich had 6 kills, 2 blocks and was 6/7 at the service line.

Also contributing to the team effort are Jenny Sunberg, Emily Schramm, Tess Young, Makenzie Harris, Morgan Hawkings, Aleea Ferguson and Karley Pittsinger.

Chelan has one more league match before the end of regular play. They will travel to Tonasket next week to take on the Lady Tigers.
