Coach Donene Hendricks was very happy with the Lady Goat performance at the Wenatchee Volleyball Tournament this past Saturday. The Lady Goats came in second overall against 18 teams that showed up. “At the end of the day, it was easy to say that they left everything on the court,” said Hendricks.

The tournament began at 8:30 a.m. and went until 9 p.m. on Saturday. The format in pool play was two games to 25 points.

Hendricks reports:

“We split with East Valley 19-25, 25-18, but won due to the one point differential.”

They played Marysville-Pilchjuck in match two and won 25-9, 25-16. Ballard fell to the Goats 25-9. 25-15.

“After winning our pool, we were in bracket play and our first match was against Woodinville,” said Hendricks. The format of bracket play went from the 2-game pool play to 3 games with the third game going to 15.

Chelan defeated Woodinville 25-14, 25-13 to get into the quarterfinal match where they defeated South Ridge 25-18, 22-25, 16-14. “That win put us into the semifinal match against Kamiak and we defeated them 25-21, 25-14.”

Chelan ended facing Richland in the finals and fought through a three game match, losing 18-25, 25-18, 13-15. “It was a hard fought battle to the end,” said Hendricks.

“The team played some amazing volleyball throughout the day,” said Hendricks. “There were several sets where we had to dig deep and make some crucial plays.”

Chelan travels to Quincy on Tuesday evening to take on the Jackrabbits and will be back home on Thursday night when they take on the Okanogan Bulldogs with J.V. action beginning at 5 p.m. and varsity play following at approximately 6:30 p.m.
