7/26/2011 (33)

Joe Harris, Chelan Boys Basketball Coach received the ultimate honor as he was inducted into the Washington State Coaches Association, Hall of Fame.  Coach Harris, during his 26 year coaching career, has coached in excess of 650 basketball games, has won more than 450 games and taken teams to multiple State Tournament appearances.  In our interview of Coach Harris he told us how humbling it was to be considered along with some of the great coaches in this state.

Coach Harris has coached boys basketball for 26 years, the 1st 6 years at Bridgeport, taking the Mustangs to the B State Tournament several times.  He returned to his alma mater 20 seasons ago and has taken the Mountain Goats to the State A and 2A State Tournaments multiple times.  The Goats won their only State Championship under Harris in 1998.  Coach Harris mentioned that the '98 team was special in that they were ranked #1 going into the Tournament, then in the Tacoma Dome, and came out of the Tournament #1.  GoLakeChelan wants to congratulate Coach Harris on his selection to the Hall of Fame.  And we hope that he will continue to enjoy the success he has had while developing life long relationships with the youngmen he has coached.
