This was a great day for baseball and even though the score didn't end up in our favor I don't that really matters all the time. One spectator said to me today, "don't you wish you got two forfeits today like the girls?" and I thought to myself no way! We play baseball for the love of the game and I am so proud of these guys that are still out here working their tails off every day. Watching our kids work during today's games you would never know that we were getting beat, they are now really starting to respect the game. Even with the losses the kids have endured, many coaches have mentioned the hustle and respect for the game our kids always show.

Our pitchers (Taylor Quigley, Kent Ustanik and Stellan Giffin) pitched very well all day, they all three threw strike and made the jitters earn bases, unfortunately our fourteen errors in each game gave their batters many bases. Jordan Pittman made an excellent play at first base on an extremely well hit ball in the second game. Bailey Stevens worked hard in center all chasing down fly balls and balls in the gaps. Cameron Peters had a couple catches in leftfield in his first extended duty in the outfield of the season. Nathan hit the ball HARD all day getting himself two hits. Devon Griffith really stepped up today playing third base, a position he has never played before, and he did a great job. Devon also collected three hits today. Stellan Giffin pitched a great second game getting the first two batters out and only giving up four earned runs. Johnny Jones worked the count for a walk, caught a fly ball and almost caught another barehanded! Taylor
Quigley started the first game on the bump and did a pretty good job, he threw a lot of ground balls that should be outs. Luis Vazquez got his first career RBI when he got hit by a pitch. Travis Pittman hit the ball hard to straight away centerfield. Kent Ustanik pitched for his first time in a game and hit the ball hard down the third baseline for late game single. Curtis McClellan worked the count for a walk in the second game, fouling off numerous pitches until he got the walk.

At the end of the day the kids should be very proud of themselves; they are working hard and showing both a lot of character and pride and in my opinion that says a lot about these kids.
