Once again we had trouble getting going offensively as we had turnovers in each of our first five possessions. We started out playing great defense like we usually do, yet we just couldn't hit any open shots. We went 10-49 from the field for the game and 4-21 from the line. We were able to keep the game close by cutting Down on our turnovers in the second half and slowing down their easy buckets. In the first half we had twenty turnovers compared to only eight in the second half. We changed a few things at halftime thus were only outscored by two points after the half. Unfortunately, we just weren't able to hit some of the shots we normally make. Even though we weren't at our best the girls battled right to the end of the game. In fact, Cheyanne McFadden hurt her ankle again, but she didn't want to come out of the game. That's the story of our season as many of our girls have gotten banged up; yet they all have heart and desire to play and ultimately they never want to leave the floor no matter their pain. Cheyanne continued her season of great improvement, before she sprained her ankle, with two assists and four rebounds. Ofelia Rodriguez once again did a great job guarding liberty bell's best player holding her to two points in the first half and stealing the ball from her six times throughout the game. Sierra Miller played some great help defense creating two steals and two rebounds for herself. Jaque Guillen was our most aggressive player tonight with thirteen rebounds, eight points and three steals. Hailey Ellsworth led our offense again with a night of sixes. She had six points, six assists and six rebounds. Thalia Lepley came in and gave us a spark off the bench with two offensive rebounds and two points in the second quarter. Abby Bridgewater continued her season of getting into double digits in rebounds with fourteen to go along with seven points. Itzel Castro had an awesome defensive rebound and took it coast to coast for a lay-up and got fouled. It was the play of the night for sure! Thursday is senior night and our last game. I sure hope that we have a big crowd to cheer us on against Brewster, who is the seventh ranked team in the state. We have two seniors (Hailey Ellsworth and Emily Huang) this year.
