The score of this game really isn't much of an indication of how this game went. Last time we played l-r we lost by forty-four points, but tonight we were within fifteen half through the fourth quarter and we played our entire team while they used their starters to press our younger girls late in the game. I was extremely proud of the focus and hard work our girls showed tonight. Right to the end we played good defense, as Ofelia was d-in it up on their guards and she didn't care at all about the score. Once again our lack of size and not so great shooting really hurt us. They got us on the boards early while we struggled to make lay-ups, but in the second quarter we began to fix things and block out better. Their size was really hard for us to adjust to early on, but none of our girls made any excuses; they instead worked to the best of their ability to get it done. L-r is a pretty good team that could givr white swan or entiat trouble at districts and I really felt we held our own defensively for the majority of the game. I also believe our girls don't believe in quitting no matter what is happening. It was great to feel the electricity at the game from the band, the cheerleaders and our crowd. The band sounded as good as I have ever heard them in my four years in Manson. The cheerleaders got the students going during today's pep assembly and they continued the magic with the entire crowd during our game. Our crowd was loud and supportive of the girls success. Mr. Brown and Mrs. Hodges have done a tremendous job with the band and the cheerleaders. This night was also special because we honored the Smalleys. They are an elder couple that continues to support manson athletics like no other! They are at EVERY home game and they go to many away games when they can, they have been supporting Manson sports for decades! The girls were very honored to take candy to Mr. Smalley and I was fortunate to get the opportunity to give him a manson basketball t-shirt. Before the boys game the boys gave mrs. Smalley flowers and her own t-shirt. This was an awesome experience for the kids to do something nice for someone else. I would also like to thank Fred miller for doing such a great job on the book and our athletic director (ken Nelson) for all that he does. I never have to worry about anything on gamedays (or any other day for that matter) because mr. Nelson always has everything done with some help from mr. Pauley on gamedays.
