This was a tough night at the office on senior night as we honored
Hailey Ellsworth and Emily Huang. What an honor it has been to coach
Hailey for the past three years and it has been so much fun coaching
Emily this season! They both have contributed so much to our school
and basketball program. I feel like a better person and coach after
spending many practices and games with these two seniors. I cant put
into words how much Hailey has meant to this basketball team. She is
a  three-year starter and a three-year captain. She has led us in
scoring, steals and assists the past two years; she was also our
leading rebounder as a junior. Hailey earned all-league honors as a
junior and a senior and was named the state player of the week during
both her junior and senior basketball seasons. It's always sad to see
seniors end their careers, but it's exciting to see them move on to
bigger things in their lives.
Brewster is an amazing team their starting five is as good as any 2B
team I have seen. Becky Mae Taylor (19 points) and Chandler Taylor (16
points) are two of the best players around in any classification.
Their press and shooting was unbelievable tonight, but we made them
look even better as we had a lot of unforced turnovers. They are very
physical; in fact Ofelia, Jaque, Itzel and Abby all had to leave the
game after getting hit in the nose or eyes during the game. We came
out and battled with them in the first quarter, but their size and
speed took over in the second quarter. We were excited with eight
points in the first quarter, unfortunately we struggled to put the
ball in the hoop after that. The big thing we can take away from this
game and this season is that these girls NEVER quit on themselves or
their teammates. They showed class, character and sportsmanship all
season long and right up to the end of this game. I am just as proud
of this team as any i have coached. The girls that ended this season
had such good attitudes every day and because of that it was a
pleasure to go to practice and games every day; I truly am looking
forward to next season.
Cheyanne McFadden worked through ankle issues all season and never
missed practice her work ethic and attitude is amazing. She has
improved a ton this year in many areas of the game.
Ofelia Rodriguez has worked extremely hard to become our most
consistent man-to-man defender usually guarding the other teams best
player no matter the position. Ofelia has learned to use her speed and
length very well.
Sierra Miller has become one of our best shooters and this is due to
her attention to detail. She wants to get better every day; because of
that characteristic Sierra will always be successful in everything she
Jaque Guillen has improved more in one year than any player I have
ever coached! Jaque works extremely hard at her shot, but she has also
become one of our best rebounders and defenders. She understands help
defense very well. The next two years could be pretty exciting
watching Jaque play.
Haliey Ellsworth is the best girls player Manson has had in awhile and
if she takes all that she has accomplished with her to CWU she will be
very successful there. She is a great player and an ever better
person! She has had a great varsity career.
Bianca Sanchez has continued improving the last couple weeks at a
record pace. Bianca is a great shooter and probably our best overall
free throw shooter. She will be counted on a lot next year to score.
Thalia Lepley is one of the quietest and funniest players we have.
Thalia has worked so hard to get faster during the past three years
and it really shows in how she has played this year. When she wants
the ball she can flat out get after it.
Abby Bridgewater was a huge key to us being competitive this year. We
were a much better team because of her moving back from mansfield.
Abby was one of the best rebounders in the entire league this year.
She continually battled bigger players all year and outrebounded many
of them.
Itzel Castro is one the most athletic and gifted players around. She
can do so many things with the ball and defensively. When she is at
her best she can give other point guards fits to where they don't even
want to handle the ball cause they are so scared of her taking it.

Manson stats:
Emily Huang 1 rebound, 1 turnover
Ofelia Rodriguez 0-1 line, 1 foul, 8 turnovers, 3 steals
Sierra Miller 2 points, 1-2 field, 2 fouls, 2 rebounds, 3 rebounds, 2
Jaque Guillen 2 points, 1-6 field, 2 fouls, 8 rebounds, 4 turnovers, 2
Hailey Ellsworth 5 points, 3 fouls, 2-6 field, 1-2 line, 4 rebounds, 9
turnovers, 2 assists, 2 steals
Bianca Sanchez 0-3 field, 3 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 1 foul
Thalia Lepley 2 points, 1 foul, 4 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 2 steals
Abby Bridgewater 3 points, 0-4 line, 1-4 field, 1 Trey, 3 rebounds, 2
turnovers, 2 assists, 4 fouls
Itzel Castro 0-2 field, 0-2 line, 3 turnovers, 3 steals, 2 fouls

Game MVP: Hailey Ellsworth
Offensive MVP: Jaque Guillen
Defensive MVP: Thalia Lepley

Angelica Suarez got hurt in our very first game of the season, but she continued to come to every practice and every game. She was a great captain all season long and her leadership helped make this an enjoyable season. I can't wait to see her play next year!

Met Bromme has been an excellent assistant coach. She has been a huge POSITIVE asset to our basketball program and she will continue to be for many years to come. No matter what is needed Mey is always willing to get it done.
