This was a rough night for us from start to finish as we really struggled offensively. We had trouble making the easy lay-ups and free-throws all game long. Defensively their size was just too much for us to handle as their two posts combined for thirty-six points. The one big thing that we can hang our hats on though is that many teams would have given up with the way this game started, but not these girls. They came and played their best against a much bigger team. Right to the end our girls worked to the best of their ability.
Going into this game we knew it could be rough with so many girls banged up or sick: Hailey (knee,) Abby (knee, back and ankle,) Cheyanne (ankle,) Itzel (wrist,) Ofelia and Thalia (both sick.) Every single one of these girls continued to play and wouldn't come out of the game unless I took them out. They just absolutely live to play and leave it all out on the court. At the same time I can't take anything away from Pateros; they are very good and peaking at just the right time. They could be a very dangerous team at districts for anyone. Lorrie Mattson and Chacy Gill totally dominated this game at both ends of the floor and in many different ways at the offensive end.

We had a hard time getting into our offense as we turned the ball over twenty-one times and when we did get into our half court offense we didn't shoot very well (6-49 from the field and 7-19 from the line.) Pateros hit twenty-one shots from the field (including three 3's) and went 12-17 from the line.

In the end I was once again proud of every player on this team, it's good to find the positives in your team in high school sports and sometimes forget about the score. The girls worked hard for thirty-two minutes, had a good attitude and made the best of a rough situation. We will try our best to get after a very good Lake Roosevelt (and very underrated outside of ncw) team at home on Friday.

We had another great guest speaker today in practice and hopefully Mrs. Charlton's words of wisdom will help us the rest of the season and continue to help the girls throughout their lives and maybe even motivate the girls to block out:)
