We got beat at the start of both halves tonight, we preach to the girls that the most important part of every game is the first four minutes of both halves, and we really struggled at both ends of the floor during those eight minutes. Other than those eight minutes we really played well tonight! We hit some shots that we haven't been hitting lately, cut down on our turnovers, made some GREAT passes to open teammates and our man-to-man defense created some great ball pressure! Pateros has some very good shooters from outside and their size was really hard to overcome. Jamie Bruno hurt us from outside and Lorrie Mattson pounded us inside. It was good to see all of our girls, including our bench, battle with the Pateros starters right to the end of the game and nobody was intimidated by their size or speed.

GAME MVP: Itzel Castro
We may not have won this game, but the girls showed a ton of improvement throughout the game, after the first four minutes of the game. They are some of the hardest working girls anywhere, their attitude is second to none and as soon as they start to believe in themselves as much as I do it will be pretty exciting. They are easy to coach because of how respectful they are and how much they want to learn.
Cheyanne McFadden was forced to guard much taller players most of the game, yet she never let that bother her as she grabbed three rebounds and made three steals all in the second half against Pateros's biggest lineup. Lia Verduzco played hard, but was stuck guarding a post at the end of the game when Pateros went with four posts and one guard. Ofelia Rodriguez did a great job on defense as she was asked to guard posts and guards, she is so versatile on both ends of the floor for us because of her speed and length. She came up with six rebounds and two steals. Sierra Miller made a great pass that led to a bucket, Sierra has worked really hard to get better as a passer and she showed that tonight. Jackie Guillen made five steals tonight and her defense really helped get us going in the second quarter when we needed to get things going. Hailey Ellsworth had a pretty good game with team highs in points and assists. Hailey was also named the Washington
State 2B girls student-athlete of the week by WIAA and The Seattle Times. Thalia Lepley worked hard and smiled her way to six rebounds and two points. Abby Bridgewater got another double digit game in rebounds with a team high of sixteen. She also had to work really hard amongst the trees for her well earned six points. Itzel Castro was a HUGE spark off the bench with her lock-down defense leading the team with seven steals. She is so aggressive and once she figures out the whole game offensively she could be one of the best players in the league.
