Wow, what a difference in game play from Tuesday against Bridgeport to Friday verses Pateros. It looked like I was coaching a completely different team when we played against a good Pateros team on Friday night. Our boys were passing the ball well, rebounding well, limiting turnovers, not dribbling aimlessly, and making correct defensive rotations. Eight out of our ten players reached the scoring column and all did a very good job chipping in defensively. We jumped out to a very quick start with some solid half court defense and claimed a 19 to 3 lead heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter we were able to really get some solid rotation off of our bench and cruised into half time with a 25-11 point lead. The third quarter started a bit rough as we couldn't get our shots to fall. The boys were taking some really good shots but they just weren't falling for them. I explained to them that this going to happen sometimes and we just need to continue to shoot through it. That is exactly what they did. Heading into the 4th quarter up by 10 our boys turned it up a notch and outscored Pateros 14 to 4 to win their 2nd league game and 6th overall contest in a row. The scoring was leg by: S. Leyva (10), B. Stevens (9), O. Orozco (8), C. McClellan (8), P. Toolson (4), F. Orozco (2), M. Vanderholm (2), and U. Adame (2).
